Derek Satnik Named Executive of the Year in Energy Engineering

KITCHNER, ON, CANADA, August 29, 2011 /HiTech PR News/ -- Derek Satnik, Managing Director and Chief Innovation Officer of Mindscape Innovations Group Inc., has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Executive of the Year in Energy Engineering. Drawing on more than 10 years of experience in the engineering industry, Mr. Satnik serves as the managing director and chief innovation officer of Mindscape Innovations Group Inc. Specializing in energy engineering and policy, he oversees the development of green buildings and programs. He is responsible for working with green, solar, wind and geothermal energies, managing controls and automation, and ensuring compliance with government regulations. He directs Mindscape's activities within the realm of green or sustainable design efficiency as a sustainability engineer and LEED consultant.
An electrical engineer by trade, Mr. Satnik is a recognized leader in the green building and energy industries throughout Canada. He has gained broad experience in the design of power, lighting and control systems for the commercial, institutional and industrial sectors. Prior to joining Mindscape, Mr. Satnik worked for Stantec Consulting Ltd. and Enermodal Engineering Ltd.
In addition to playing a key role at Mindscape, Mr. Satnik is also the managing director of OntarioGreenSpec.ca, an online database of green building energy product and service providers in Ontario. In this position, he builds partnerships with other organizations and develops business channels.
Mr. Satnik earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2002. He is a member of the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association, the Canada Green Building Council and the Net-Zero Energy Home Coalition. Throughout his career, he has been presented with several distinctions in honor of his devotion to the field, including the Net-Zero Energy Home Champion of the Year award in 2009 from the Net-Zero Energy Home Coalition, and the 2008 Entrepreneur of the Year award from Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Satnik's entrepreneurial drive and promotion of green energy in his community have catalyzed the reduction of 1,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions in just two years. He notes that his dynamic mentors have contributed to his successful career. Aside from work, Mr. Satnik enjoys spending his free time with his five children. He also volunteers through his church and local nonprofit organizations.
